Number: I179; Reference Number: 1011053; EMB: 27229B; UPC: 088300000067) Calvin
Klein Contradiction for Men after shave splash in a generous 3.4-ounce (100ml)
size by
Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company. This bottle is from the 1999 launch year and
does not include the later Unilever designation. The box still has its original Dillard's department store proof of purchase yellow sticker intact. All photos were taken at 40x magnification to best
highlight overall item condition. The buyer will receive the exact item
pictured.
A Brief History of Calvin Klein Ownership
1980 – Minnetonka Corporation acquires Calvin Klein Cosmetics Corporation.
1987 – Calvin Klein and Barry K. Schwartz, the
principal co-founders of Calvin Klein Industries Inc., increase their stake in
Minnetonka to seek control of the company. Calvin Klein has strong disagreements with Minnetonka’s management regarding marketing and
corporate policies.
July 1989 – The board unanimously votes to sell Minnetonka to Chesebrough-Pond's
Inc., a subsidiary of Unilever.
1989-May 2005 – All Calvin Klein fragrance lines are maintained
by Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company (CKCC), still owned by Unilever.
May 2005, Unilever sells its
global prestige fragrance business, Unilever Cosmetics International (UCI), to
Coty, Inc.
June 2015 – Coty Inc. acquires Proctor & Gamble (P&G); owner of
Max Factor and CoverGirl brands.
Launched in 1999, Contradiction for Men is
classified as an oriental
woody scent with top notes of lemon, lime, lavender, mandarin orange, and clary
sage; middle notes of nutmeg, coriander, pepper, and cardamom on a base of sandalwood,
musk, ebony wood, and vetiver.
