Takruts are worn by Thai people as a protective amulet and have existed for thousands of years. They are by rule, a talisman that is an elongated shape, taking the shape of a scroll. The scroll can be made of any type of metal, paper, leaf, papyrus, animal skin, or many other mediums, including bamboo and wood vines, or other sacred substance. They are mostly worn on a cord around the waist, but are also often seen accompanying amulet on neck chains, originally without steel capped transparent tube or waterproof casing. The Sacred Inscriptions made upon the Takrut are a form of Sacre Geometry based in Thai Buddhist and Ancient verdict and animist traditions.

Luang Pu Eiam of Wat Nang Ratchaworawihan was born to an orchard farming family in Bang Khun Thian in 1832 and passed away in 1926. He was known for his knowledge of traditional medicine and magic spells. He was highly respected by King Rama V. According to oral history, before King Rama V paid a state visit to Europe in 1897, he came to meet Luang Pu Eiam at the temple. The abbot blessed the king and predicted that the trip would go smoothly but he would be challenged by an untamed animal. The monk then taught the king a magic spell for taming creatures. Later in Paris, a French prince invited the king to watch a horse riding and polo match and asked if Siam had many untamed horses and any tricks to control them. The king replied: "We have some." He then cast a spell upon grass and gave the grass to an untamed horse. He then rode it around the field.
