Der Verkaufserlös geht nach Abzug der eBay Gebühren zu 100% an Mikiyas.
Die Idee zu dieser Aktion kam auf, während wir uns per Telegram
darüber unterhielten, wie wenig die aktuellen offiziellen Zahlen der Corona Erkrankungen
in Äthiopien mit der erlebten Realität von Mikiyas übereinstimmten. Er selbst
erzählte mir, dass bereits zwei seiner Freunde im Krankenhaus behandelt werden müssen und schwerkranke Menschen teilweise zuhause sterben. Dass Äthiopien täglich nur ca. 6000
Menschen testet/testen kann, ist sicher ein Grund für diese Diskrepanz. Bei
einer derartigen Testrate wäre die Gesamtbevölkerung (ca. 100 Millionen) erst
nach 45 Jahren durchgetestet. Die
zusätzliche Inflation der Äthiopischen Währung Birr um ca. 30% (Februar
2020 - 1 EUR = 35 ETB // Mai 2021 - 1 EUR = 50 ETB) hat
die Lage neben dem Lockdown um einiges verschärft. Die meisten Gemälde
befinden sich bereits versandbereit bei mir, es kann jedoch vorkommen,
dass ein Gemälde noch direkt von Mikiyas verschickt wird, das Paket wäre
natürlich auch versicht, mit Tracking und würde innerhalb von 7 - 10
Tagen eintreffen.

The
idea for this action came up while we were talking about how little the
current official corona cases figures in Ethiopia corresponded with
Mikiyas' experienced reality. He himself told me that two of his friends
need to be treated in hospital and that seriously ill people sometimes
die at home. The fact that Ethiopia can only test about 6000 people a
day is certainly one reason for this discrepancy. With such a test rate,
the total population (about 100 million) would not be tested until
after 45 years. The additional inflation of the Ethiopian currency Birr
by about 30% (February 2020 - 1 EUR = 35 ETB // May 2021- 1 EUR = 50
ETB) has aggravated the situation besides the lockdown. Most of the
paintings are already at my place ready to be shipped, but it may happen
that a painting is still shipped directly from Mikiyas, the package
would be of course also insured, with tracking and would arrive within 7
- 10 days.
