Nicaragua coffee is famous for being a Kona CopyCat coffee.

If you want to taste the smooth rich chocolaty and floral flavors of pure Kona coffee, but don't want to pony up the big bucks for it, you've got to try Nicaragua!
I'll let you in on a little secret the coffee industry won't tell you...certain coffees from Nicaragua and the volcan region of Panama taste very similar to pure Kona coffee - smooth, floral and chocolatey. This is possible due to nearly identical year round growing climates on the same longitudinal lines of the globe, and both regions grow their coffee in volcanic soil in low to mid-elevation on the slopes of a volcano just above the ocean. I have done a side-by-side taste test, and there is virtually no difference in flavor. They are both amazing. The main reason why Kona can cost up to $25-$30/lb. for green beans, while Nicaragua is around $4 - $5 - Name recognition...Kona is synonymous with top quality coffee. Nicaragua does not have the branding that Kona does.
