Vintage original 27x41 in. Spanish poster from the classic 1930's silent film comedy/romance, MODERN TIMES, released in 1936 by United Artists and directed by Charles Chaplin, in which a Factory Worker (Chaplin) struggles to live in modern industrial society with the help of a young homeless woman (Paulette Goddard). The cast includes Henry Bergman, Tiny Sandford, Chester Conklin, Hank Mann, Stanley Blystone, Al Ernest Garcia, Richard Alexander, and Wilfred Lucas.

Though produced and released in the 1930's, Modern Times was Charles Chaplin's final silent film before he allowed "The Tramp" to talk. This vintage original poster was printed for, most likely, a 1960's theatrical release in Spain. The image is very similar to that of the film's original 1936 US one-sheet poster and depicts a Factory Worker (Charles Chaplin) holding the levers of a large electrically-operated machine in the new world of modernity. Of particular interest is that this poster is a stone lithograph, which produced very rich colors and fine detail, and this labor-intensive process was discontinued in the US in the early 1930's. It includes the artist's signature (which we cannot decipher) in the bottom right panel near the right border. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, it is in fair condition only with tears of different sizes, primarily in the top two right panels and in the bottom four panels, which have larger tears. The bottom left The good news is that this poster is essentially "all there" and the tears can easily be laid-down during the linen-backing process if desired. The beautiful color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
