DESCRIPTION:
This wonderful old hickory wooden curtain rod or towel holder, is an early 20th century American antique item and not a more recent facsimile of an original, authentic antique carved hickory piece, which of course was fashioned by hand. It's unmarked but has visible wear on the hickory rod in between the two wooden brackets that hold the curtain rod or towel holder to a wall. On either side of the cut-out, jigged wooden brackets are found bulbous, over-sized hickory end caps, complete with their original hickory bark still attached to the wood. The finish is dry and the old hickory wooden assembly hasn't been lacquered or varnished in order to highlight and accentuate the natural colors found in both the hickory wooden rod and hickory bark. The hickory rod is intact and without damage or repairs, old or new. The hickory bark is remarkably intact on both hickory wood end tabs. The only thing not included are the metal screw fasteners needed to install the curtain rod or towel holder on a wall. This is one of two, nearly identical hickory pieces found in the same North Shore Massachusetts estate. It's ready to go. Terrific.

CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
