Genta Kosumi Born 1974 in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Drawing and painting since 1999. Wields the pen and brush with an impulsive ferocity, composing pictures with reds and blues, on top of which feelings are imbued, neutralising social phenomenon by way of contrasting viewpoints, polar opposites which approach one in the same feeling in painting. A common motif in the work symbolises the spirits of the deceased which connect the visible and invisible worlds. After his visceral style of live painting gained notoriety, Kosumi was hired for a Kansai TV commercial. And since 2013, he has been working as supervisor of the yes!yes!hihi clothing brand, which is conceptually based on the idea of a unity in duality and a unity in yin and yang.

Kosumi has had solo exhibitions in Japan, Spain, and New York.

Amongst various jobs, Kosumi has worked in media advertising for SHARP magazine, done display case design for clothing brand Yohji Yamamoto’s Taiwan store, and created CD jacket artwork for DIR EN GREY.
