Gorgeous, antique, curio cabinet salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. It's
made of solid wood veneered with walnut. The swinging door has bowed or curved
glass and lock with working key. Inside, there is a mirrored back and 2
removable, wooden shelves with 3 grooves or slots to stand your dishes. Along
the bottom are 3 drawers; one with 2 pulls and two without pulls. The cabinet
sits on beautifully decorated, Jacobean style legs with bunt feet and 8 casters.
I'm estimating that the piece is was made around the 1910's or
1920's.
Our carpenter inspected the piece from top to bottom, inside and outside. There
wasn't anything for him to repair or reinforce. It has the typical wear
that you would expect to find on a piece this old: nicks, scratches, small
pieces of missing veneer along the lower edges, spots of worn finish. The glass
and mirror are intact with no breaks, cracks, or obvious scratches. The mirror
has some distressing (worn silvering), but it's light. The cabinet is strong,
sturdy, and ready for another lifetime of service!
