Antique Bronze and gold ormolu five arm Chandelier. Circa 1890 -1910. Updated wiring

In traditional taste. As good as it gets for antique decorative sculptural lighting.

Creatively designed, and well engineered, it comprises at least eighty separately cast and applied pieces, including the decorative elements of acanthus-like leaf swags, flowers on stems, sinuously twisting branches, lily pads, a finial in the form of a spray of flowers rising to a concentric leaf patterned fount, surmounted by a canopy of "fronds in the wind", concealing the plate to which the arms are firmly fixed by ten bolts, two for each arm. The bobeches are original and threaded to screw down and hold the ceramic sconces firmly in place.

The candle tubes are modern and could be improved.

The sconces and top canopy are the original hard fired ceramics, hand decorated each with a different floral motif, and with gilt patterning on a blue ground. No chips, cracks or repairs.

The wiring and light fittings have been updated to modern standards with new standard bayonet fittings, and all connected to a “ceiling maestro” for easy fixing to a ceiling.

Wired, working and ready to go.
