DESCRIPTION:
In outstanding, very well-preserved condition, with perhaps a 'touch' or small, slight ding on the outer margin of the decoy's tail. It's in otherwise terrific condition, with naturally aged cedar patina, black glass eyes and clearly signed by the duck decoy sculptor on the baseplate 'For Buck Mills, by Jack Carrigan, #2, Oct. 1977 JC.' It hasn't been lacquered, varnished or oiled. It still has its naturally aged white cedar, honey and amber patina, with episodes of deep chestnut. The black glass eyes are present and are original to the sporting duck decoy. It is wonderfully carved, with solid body, one board construction, making the carver even more skilled, considering the head was not fashioned from another board and fastened to the lower body. Without the luxury of paint, the wood carver's handiwork and wood carving skills are left for all to see, unobscured by paint. The form is not only anatomically correct, but the artist was clearly familiar with his subject. The white cedar wood surfaces are naturally matte and dry. Signed. Dated. Very fine. A truly beautiful American vintage hand carved wood sporting duck decoy. Wonderful.

CONDITION:
Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition.
