An outstanding hand colored map of BAVARIA (PALATINA TVS BAVARIAE) by JODOCUS HONDIUS/MERCATOR) circa 1606.

Jodocus Hondius was a Flemish engraver and cartographer. Hondius is best known for his early maps of the New World and Europe, for re-establishing the reputation of the work of Gerard Mercator, and for his portraits of Francis Drake. One of the notable figures in the Golden Age of Dutch/Netherlandish cartography (c. 1570s–1670s), he helped establish Amsterdam as the center of cartography in Europe in the 17th Century.  (wikipedia)

This map shows great detail pf all the towns and cities in Bavaria.  Major forests and rivers are shown with larger cities highlighted in red with church steeples.

Map page size is about 18" by 22", large margin for framing. Centerfold.

Condition

This 414 year map is in very good condition. Overall toning minor stains and wear.  This is a must see/buy.
