Wooden rat trap, with stainless metal parts, made of grade 1 plywood, 12
mm (1/2 inch) thick.

Despite the rapid development of technical progress, rats still do not stop spoiling household utensils and destroying agricultural supplies, and simple mechanical rat traps still remain an effective means of fighting rodents.

The principle of the rat trap.

The principle of operation of the rat trap is based on the use of a striking shock effect produced by the frame when it is sharply lowered. When unloaded, the frame is on a plywood base. The rat trap is in working condition as follows. The frame must be rotated around its axis of rotation, on which the spring is located, and fixed in this position using a long rod (latch). The retainer is adjusted over the rotated frame, and is fixed with a hook. The bait is put on this hook. The rat, attracted by the smell of the bait, tugs at it and releases the retainer. Now the freed frame, under the action of a strong spring, instantly returns to its original position, killing the victim. The rat trap should then be freed from the dead rat and charged again.

Using a rat trap.

The rat trap is installed in the places where rats or mice appear most often. For the most effective control of rodents, it is advisable to use several rat traps at the same time, since the rat trap catches only one rat at a time. The advantage of rat traps over this method of killing rodents as poisons is that they are environmentally friendly, which is important for pets, children and food supplies.
