Text is in French. Contains detailed information on mushrooms, including a chapter on their culinary merits.  Black binding with raised bands and gilt lettering to leather spine. Gilt page edges. 438 pages plus 60 color, tissue-guarded chromolithograph plates. Green silk bookmark sewn in. 7.5" x 10.75" weighing over 4 pounds.

Title page has a tape repair; rear hinge has split but board is still safely attached; plates have small, neatly penciled numbers; occasional light foxing most prevalent on endpapers and pastedowns.  Board corners are bumped, curled and have mild fraying, shelf wear. Otherwise a tight, straight edition in very good condition.
