Pair of matching single pulleys

This pair of single pulleys have the typical form of Burmese hand carved bird like forms. They must have been spectacular when first made as they appear to have gold leaf decoration on the carved wood.

This pair of loom pulleys does have some chips and needs a thorough cleaning. The attached roping and thread are a plus.

Hand carved means they are not exactly alike, and dimensions vary a little.   Each pulley measures approximately 5” tall by 3 ½” wide by 1 ½” deep.  The pulleys themselves are 2” in diameter and about 1 ¼” deep.

They both weigh about 2 ounces each.

The smaller of the two pulleys has just minor wood chip on the tail end. The taller pulley has a wing tip missing and the original pin has been replaced.

One Double Pulley

The double pulley has a typical form of Burmese hand carved bird like forms. Although the colors are faded you can see that the bird was painted in green, brown and red. It is beautifully carved, and detail is still clear.  I have brightened photos to better show colors.

The only chips are annotated on the photos. The pulley needs a thorough cleaning.

Hand carved means they are not exactly alike, and dimensions vary a little.   Each pulley measures approximately 4 5/8” tall by 2 1/4” wide by 1 3/8” deep.  The pulley is 1 ¾” in diameter and about 1 3/8” deep.

This pulley weighs 2.8 ounces.

Pair of unidentified loom parts

The two “mystery” loom parts are beautifully carved on the front and sides. There are two “thread channels” in each. The front and sides of each one has inset mica patterns within the carved decoration. Some of the mica is missing but enough has survived that you can easily imagine how magnificent the complete loom must have been. The mica and overall decoration need a thorough cleaning. 

ALL sides have several chips and scuffs. PLEASE ZOOM photos for your condition assessment.

Hand carved means they are not exactly alike, and dimensions vary a little.   They are approximately 17” high from base to tip of dowel. Each carved section measures approximately 8 ¼” tall by 5 1/4” wide (at widest) by 2” deep. 

Each one weighs almost 1 lb. 5 ounces.
