This sapphires is pink; good colour.  The 6.5 X 6.5 X 3.7 mm faceted round weighs 1.27 carats.  It is unheated, untreated and 100% natural.  Their clarity is SI1, the gem has inclusions, which are fairly easy to see under 10X's magnification, and can be seen up close with the naked eye.  The sapphire was mined in Ceylon.

Natural pink sapphire is a rare gemstone.  Pink is actually one of the rarest of sapphire colours and pink sapphire is nearly as rare as ruby.  Sapphire is aluminum oxide by chemical composition, and is completely colourless unless tinted by impurities.  Pink sapphire, like ruby, is coloured by traces of chromium; and the greater the concentration of chromium, the deeper the pink colour.

Pink sapphire ranges in colour from a pale pink to coral pink to purplish pink and reddish pink.  An exceptionally rare pink-orange colour is known as Padparadscha.  Pinkish-red corundum is usually called ruby, but the dividing line between pink sapphire and ruby is fuzzy.

Pink sapphire, like ruby, tends to have inclusions.  In general, ruby and pink sapphire will tend to have more inclusions than blue or yellow sapphire.  Thus, a pink sapphire graded as eye clean (no inclusions detectable by the unaided eye) would count as quite a clean specimen.

Almost all pink sapphire is heated to improve the clarity or reduce the purplish secondary hue.  Since even very good pink sapphires can be further improved by heating, it is very rare to find a high quality unheated stone.  This is why this unheated pink sapphire has a purplish tint, and is a rare and exceptional natural gem.

I will be including the original item description with a picture pictures from the seller of the gemstone to me.  This will authenticate its pedigree and origin and should be kept for future reference.  If you return the necklace, the included original description must be returned with the necklace, it can not be replaced.

I have set the sapphire in a six prong sterling silver setting that includes a 20" sterling silver long link cable chain with a spring ring clasp.

The sapphire is transparent.  On 5/8/2021, IGS has provided estimates that a sapphire with this weight, colour, and clarity to have a retail value of $800. to $1350. USD per carat. The pink sapphire's retail value is $1,016. to $1714. USD.  I will include this information.  I am selling the necklace at a wholesale prince, and wholesale pricing is generally 1/3 of the retail value.

The pictures have been enlarged to show detail.  There is a picture of the sapphire next to a dime for size reference.  The first 3 pictures were taken in sunlight, the rest were taken under LED lighting.

The setting is .925 sterling silver and is the standard for silver. It is called .925 because it is an alloy that is 925 parts out of a thousand silver. It is allowed for the other 75 parts to be other metals (usually copper) to enhance the strength, because pure silver is very soft and not structurally strong enough for many jewelry applications. Other "silver settings" come with different elements in their composition. German/Nickel Silver, which is an alloy consisting of copper, zinc and nickel, contains no silver. Many people have allergic reactions to nickel. Other settings may be called Mexican Silver, Indian Silver, Montana Silver, Pewter, Tin, Pot or Base Metal or simply silver. The content of these are less clear and do not guarantee the quantity or silver content. .925 is the best form of silver. It is durable and has a high sheen. Sterling Silver is considered a precious metal.

Inside the gift box, I am including a 1" X 1" anti-tarnish tab.  This is the same technology used by NASA, The Guggenheim Museum, The British Royal Mint & jewelry manufacturers worldwide.  The tab provides protection from tarnish for up to 12 months.  It does not leave deposits on items it protects.  It is non-toxic, non-abrasive, and will not scratch or harm metals or gemstones.  Place tabs in jewelry cases, storage bags or boxes.  Each tab protects up to 30 cubic inches of container space.

It is recommended to keep your sapphire necklace in the box with the anti-tarnish tab.  This will avoid your jewelry from scratching each other.  Even the included airtight plastic bag can be used for this purpose.

I guarantee my jewelry 100%. If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, return your item and I will refund your purchase price. I do not charge a restocking fee on returned items.
