About Colnago

Ernesto Colnago founded Colnago in 1954 in Cambiago near to Milan. To start the business  in the small shop in Via Garibaldi 10 in Cambiago it was money needed.
So therefore (after the legend) the fasther Ersnesto has cut his precious Mullberry Tree and gave the money for the business and the workbench to young Ernesto.
Everything what followed afterwards is pure Cycling history - Tour De France Wins, World Championship Titles, Olympic Medals and more more trophees were
won on the Colnago bikes that were always ahead of it's time.

After the year 2000 carbon frames took the flagship role in almost all major brands line ups and Colnago was no exception. That created a situation, that the prestigious brand from Cambiago offered frames made from three major materials at the same time. The top models from carbon fiber were already race proven. Then there were the lightweight aluminium frames, brought to perfection in the last years. And as the steel frames were also to have, as the true legacy of the brand.

This Colnago Dream Plus is the one with an aluminium alloy frame perfected through the years. It is made of Columbus Airplane tubing, which have the profiled and oversized cross sections with cigar shaped main tubes. This frame set is a special edition with a steel fork instead of the regular carbon one.

About the item

This is a one of a kind professional Road Bike used in Training and the Spring season in 2001 in the UCI World Tour. Made for and used by Lars Michaelsen, Team Coast.

The bike is not only custom measured and made to the size of the Danish Classic specialist. It's also custom built for the early spring season. The biggest differences to
the regular racing bike of that season are the traditionally built 32 spoke wheels. (please note the extra weights for the perfect concentricity). Another difference is the
extra beefy steel fork instead of the regular carbon one, the double wrapped bar tape and abrasive papier in the bottle holder.

Rest of the bike is top of line in that particular time - super thin, air plane aluminium, reinforced and octagonal shaped tubing, Dura Ace 9x group set, Cinelli stem and handlebars,
Continental Pro Limited Tubulars and a racing gear display.

Unfortunately these lightweight bike from that time are not made to last forever. Everybody remembers Pantani's 20 Aluminium Bianchis for just one season.
There is a potential tiny crack in the top section of the head tube. It could be a scratch in the surface. For a real unique collectors item not a big thing but of course
needs to be mentioned.

Take the chance to own an original cycling heritage instead of a look-a-like replica.
