Uncommon August 1961 number of Chicago's Poetry monthly just turned 60. This is a very good copy with a tiny bit of edge wear to the paper wrappers. Edited at this date by the able Henry Rago

See photo #3 & #4 for complete contents

See photo #2 for notice, with excerpts from their previous contributions to the monthly, of the passing, within a week of each other, of novelist Ernest Hemingway (b.1899) and poet Kenneth Fearing (b.1902), both dead too young. Both both born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois, not far from here.

Outstanding contributors to this number include: Theodore Roethke, Langston Hughes, Richard Wilbur, Geoffrey Hartman, Donald Justice, X.J. Kennedy ("The Man in the Manmade Moon," and other poems), May Swenson, Vernon Watkins, Nancy Hale, Josephine Jacobsen, Samuel French Morse (on new works by Charles Olson, the Collected Poems of Weldon Kees, I.A. Richards), etc.
