Luopan, antica bussola (Geomantic compass) utilizzata per sistemazione delle stanze secondo il metodo cinese Feng Shui ; è costituita da un ampio disco di legno, del diametro di 50cm. Al centro della bussola c'è una piccola ciotola poco profonda contenente un ago corto e sottile con perno a secco, simile a una bussola, indicante sempre il sud. Intorno alla ciotola ci sono decine di anelli concentrici, ciascuno diviso in segmenti e contrassegnato con simboli o caratteri cinesi. Ogni segmento contiene un carattere cinese, e l'insieme costituisce i caratteri ciclici e quattro gua (trigrammi). Questi caratteri sono disposti nella posizione Zheng Zhen (letteralmente "corretto", cioè la direzione nord-sud). Anche la parte posteriore è riccamente decorata in caratteri cinesi. Circa 1900. In ottime condizioni, può beneficiare di una delicata lucidatura per far risaltare ancor di più il bellissimo legno utilizzato.

Luopan, an ancient compass (Geomantic compass) used for arranging rooms according to the Chinese Feng Shui method; it consists of a large wooden disc, with a diameter of 50cm. In the center of the compass is a small shallow bowl containing a short, thin dry pin needle, similar to a compass but without references, always pointing south. Around the bowl are dozens of concentric rings, each divided into segments and marked with Chinese symbols or characters. Each segment contains a Chinese character, and the ensemble constitutes the cyclic characters and four gua (trigrams). These characters are arranged in the Zheng Zhen position (literally "correct", ie the north-south direction). The underside is also richly decorated in Chinese characters. Circa 1900. In excellent condition, it can benefit from a delicate polishing to make the beautiful wood used stand out even more.
