One of my customers for the PRC-152 radios mentioned the additional antennas available, so I have sourced some of the interesting ones.

This is the ridiculously long version nearly 108cm long! Radio wise, the antenna is coil loaded at the bottom. The antenna is made from flexible material - very similar to extending metal tape measures, and can be bent in two places to shorten it.

I have done some basic tests against the standard antenna supplied with the radio. Use in hand held mode, there is more gain than the short helical - BUT the flexibility of the antenna makes it very unwieldy and it's easy to collapse it. This antenna is huge. You can operate the radio with the radio extended - but remember with it's tape measure like construction, if you move the radio quickly the antenna collapses. However the extra length means that in a bum pouch, the antenna can go under your webbing and extend over your shoulder giving useful free space performance. It can be folded to reduce the length and performance of course drops as you do this. In use in the kinds of scenarios users find themselves - having a short radio antenna pressed against the body severely limits range - so these crazy antennas do have a really purpose. To get the antenna to a more efficient position.

If you try to use it vertically on the radio, you will look like a lemon! In a pouch, installed properly, they can be very useful devices.

The antenna is very flexible and attaches to the radio with a TNC connector.

Look for the 33 and 78cm Versions I also have in stock.
