Description:

First Edition, Second State of The Vegetarian Cook Book by E. G. Fulton, a very important cookbook and piece of culinary history. Presenting in Near Fine Condition, unread in some areas. A tremendous example and potential centerpiece of any culinary collection.

An early modern American vegetarian cookbook that includes numerous recipes for protose (a gluten- and peanut-based food) and nuttolene, health foods invented and marketed by Kellogg's Sanitas Nut Food Co. (among the advertisers in the book). The author's introductory note, "Why I was impressed to write a cook book," mentions the widespread and pressing concerns about food safety and purity. With a short list of vegetarian restaurants and sanitariums worldwide.

Condition:

Very Good Plus Book. Book binding tight and square. Original full bound cloth boards unfaded and still richly colored with only a small scratch with some surrounding fading to front and barely noticeable spots on rear. Light wear to hinges and head and foot of spine. Light rubbing to corners and fore-edge and mild spotting to text blocks. Internally Fine but for a couple spots on front pastedown and endpaper. A remarkably clean and well-preserved example.
