DESCRIPTION: 
For sale is this very nice and 100% intact, late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1895 to 1925, filigree metal alloy statue or small figurine of the Indian Goddess Lakshmi, who is seen to represent prosperity, good luck and abundance taken from Nature. The pair of diminutive elephants on each side of her, flanking her, are shown as lustrating her and pouring water from their trunks over the stationary female Goddess. The Gajalakshmi motifs are very common in both Hindu and Buddhist graphic iconography. A splendid late 19th to early 20th century Indian antique cast metal sculptural figurine with decorative, ornate metal filigree dusted in gold paint. Handsome.
