A novelist and short story writer, Faulkner, who added the "u" to his surname in 1924, is best known for his cycle of works set in the fictional county of Yoknapatawpha, Mississippi. He began writing poetry but then developed a complicated, stream-of-consciousness prose style. Though appreciated in literary circles, by 1945 all his works from the productive previous two decades were out of print. In 1944 Malcolm Cowley and others initiated a critical reassessment of his life work as a cohesive whole, and within a few years he became the most lauded and studied living American author.

Near Fine Book in Very Good Plus Dust Jacket. Book binding tight and mostly square with slight slant. Original full bound beige cloth boards present very well with age-toning to edges. Text blocks clean and bright. Nearly unremarkable rubbing to corners and head of spine. Internally clean, bright and unmarked with crisp pages and text. Dust Jacket presents very well with rich original color. Wear to creases and hinges and slight loss at corners. Light chipping to edges with a few small closed tears and light creasing at edges. Age toning to interior flap edges. Original Price of $2.50 Not Clipped.
