A differenza di altre soluzioni che troverai qui su Ebay, questa PLA sostitutiva è montata su adapter con pin torniti dorati (rotondi) e non quadrati. E' davvero importante saperlo perchè questa soluzione ha due vantaggi di grande importanza

1) Contatto sicuro grazie a pin torniti dorati di qualità, evitando così possibili falsi contatti 

2) Nessun rischio di danneggiare lo zoccolo della scheda madre. Presta attenzione a questo particolare perchè le PLA montate su adapter con pin tradizionali non torniti (diciamo quadrati) danneggiano in maniera irreversibile le mollette degli zoccoli tradizionali. Inoltre risultano incompatibili qualora volessi montare uno zoccolo tornito.


Se il tuo Commodore C64 mostra uno schermo nero o caratteri strani, il problema potrebbe essere il guasto del PLA U17 (MOS / CSG 906114-01)

Certo, il più delle volte è la PLA la prima causa ma ricorda che il C64 ha molti circuiti integrati all'interno (RAM, ROM, SN74LS257, ecc.) che potrebbero causare un problema molto simile, come una schermata nera . Procedi sempre con un controllo preliminare grazie alla cartuccia "DEAD TEST" che puoi trovare qui nel mio Store:

  • Layout super compatto che la rende la PLA "ceramica" più compatta presente sul Web (solo 37,6 mm x 19 mm)
  • Monta pin torniti di precisione dorati per un innesto sicuro e certo con lo zoccolo originale della scheda (posizione U17). Nel dettaglio i PIN sono da 0,46mm (0,018")(0,46 mm). Attenzione alle PLA che vengono vendute con i pin "quadrati" che rovinano le mollette dello zoccolo originale causando falsi contatti!
  • Doppio filtraggio sull'alimentazione.
  • Essendo disponibile per la vendita solo il PCB (vedi inserzione dedicata) è stato predisposto il montaggio del condensatore per CASRAM in posizione C2. Questa PLA in vendita monta una Eprom da mio vecchio stock che è perfetta e non necessità di tale capacità.

Why should you choose this PLA if there are some Eprom based solutions at an even lower price?


Unlike other solutions that you will find here on Ebay, this replacement PLA is mounted on adapters with turned gold (round) and not square pins. It is really important to know because this solution has two very important advantages

1) Quality secure contact avoiding possible false contacts or malfunction

2) No risk of damaging the motherboard socket. Pay attention to this detail because the PLA mounted on adapters with square pins irreversibly damage the clips of traditional clogs. They are also incompatible if you want to mount a quality turned plinth.


If your Commodore C64 displays a black screen or strange characters then the problem could be the failure of the PLA U17 (MOS/CSG 906114-01)
