Curogan offers the double benefit of a corrosion free finish with an extremely non reactive property. Curogan is an alloy made with a very high copper content blended with tin and a number of metals to increase durability. It's properties rival the corrosion resistant performance of stainless steel, they remain one of the most popular choices in our premium range of collars. The Curogan prong collars look fantastic on light coloured dogs and especially short haired black and tan dogs.  Remember to thoroughly dry your prong collar after use and store it away safely.  The prong collars are made in Germany to the highest quality standards by Herm Sprenger, we therefore offer a 12 month guarantee against breakage and corrosion on all LuvMyDog supplied prong collars when using the collar correctly.   Offering both exceptional quality and value, buy with confidence in preference to other brands.

Herm Sprenger prong collars feature machine rounded links for ultimate comfort and ensure there are no rough or sharp edges to damage your dogs fur and skin.   Plastic prong covering caps are available to purchase separately to protect the coat of shorter haired dogs if necessary.

The prong collar is an extremely effective alternative to a choke chain for controlling your dog when going for a walk, and is ideal for owners who's dogs pull on the lead. The prong collar is gentle method of restraining your dogs tendency to choke itself while putting unnecessary pressure on the neck. When used correctly the collar offers fantastic and instantly noticeable results. We highly recommend using the collar sensibly as not to hurt your dog, and if you're uncertain at any point, please stop and consult a qualified trainer. The prong collar is best suited for use with a short lead where keeping the dog close to you allows better control. The assumption that this collar ‘pinches’ when on the dog and pressure is applied, is a falsehood. It neither pinches or pokes the neck in a way that would cause injury. Plastic prong covering plugs are available to purchase separately to protect the coat of shorter haired dogs if necessary. The unique Curogan alloy collar is designed not to mark a dog's coat either light or dark, it's antiqued copper colour is an exceptional finish.

When putting the prong collar on your dog there is no particular place you or your dog needs to stand or sit. This collar requires the links to be separated for fitting. Since you will be undoing either a snap on a quick-release style, or separating links to put it on, there is no right or wrong way for it to lay on the neck. The only consideration would be if the collar is too loose or too tight. Refrain from slipping this kind of collar over your dog’s head to keep from injuring the eyes. Don’t allow your dog to wear the prong collar with the prongs facing outward (inside out). The collar should be removed when the dog is off the leash and has space to run or play, the prong collar is not a replacement for your dog's usual collar and can be used in conjunction with almost any collar your dog wears daily. Please buy an ID tag for your dog :)

A general example of dog sizes below may be used as a guide only, please ensure you measure around your dog's neck properly before adjusting and putting on the prong collar. The collar can be adjusted very easily by adding or removing links. Additional links are available to purchase separately and measure 5cm / 1.75" each. The most suitable size for the chain is the width of the dogs neck plus 8cm / 3 inches.

The prong collar is recommended by German state-licensed and accredited instructors, and also by the federation of organized instructors, because it works. If it doesn’t work for you or you are uncertain of the safest way to walk your dog using a prong collar, please contact a dog trainer or expert, and ask for help. The prong collar should not be used to 'drag' your dog, a light guiding touch to let your dog know which way is not acceptable is all that you will need with practice as the dogs behaviour improves. Herm Sprenger Prong or Pinch collars are renowned worldwide as the professionals choice.

The corrosion resistant curogan is a copper and tin alloy with a high copper content and various alloy additives which makes the material strong, but without any nickel. As a result the curogan chains drastically reduce a potential discolouration of light haired dogs as seen with normal metals. After selling the curogan collars for 12 years, experience shows that less than 10% of light haired dogs experienced a level of discolouration. A further advantage of curogan is that the alloy is completely free of nickel. More often nickel is responsible for allergic reactions of sensitive skinned dogs and can be the cause of skin rashes. With the benefit of added strength, increased longevity and a rich copper colour, curogan is a natural choice as an alternative to brass collars.

International customers welcome.

We are unfortunately unable at present to post prong collars to Australia due to a badly written import restriction. We are working on the issue and hope to be able to resume deliveries to Australia in the future.
