Australia changes the design of their Kangaroo coins most every year. This year they minted only 49,703 of these beautiful coins. (Low mintage year) In the early years of coin production the mint called these coins "Nugget" gold coins because they featured a "nugget" design rather than a Kangaroo design. Even today people sometimes call them "nugget" gold coins because of the early years nickname for them.
