The Cerwin Vega VE-28S Sub woofer has a known issue with "Crackling".  I  experienced this with my own VE-28S subwoofer.  After a Google search on  the subject, I found quite a few forums where people were complaining about the  same problem.  My subwoofer is out of warranty, so I decided to tackle the  fix myself.  The main source of information for solving my problem was found on an audiokarma forum.

After reading the description in the forum, I decided to give this fix a try. Well, it worked  for me!  So, why am I offering this auction?  To help others with the  same problem, and to make it a bit more convenient for them to get all the parts  needed for the fix from one place.  Here is what is included with this  auction:

1. Quantity:2 - Transistor 2N5401
2. Quantity:2 - Transistor 2N5551
3. Quantity:4 - Resistor 150 Ohm - 1/4 watt
4. Quantity:2 - Resistor 1.69k Ohm - 1/4 watt
5. CD-Rom with Detailed instructions of how I performed the fix on my own subwoofer. (PDF File)
6. High Resolution photos shown in the PDF file are also included as .JPG files  on the CD-Rom.

This will give you DOUBLE the parts you need to perform the fix.   (Its good to have extras in case you have an accident and break something.)

Yes, you could buy all these parts separately on eBay, but you will most likely  spend more due to shipping these items all from different sellers.

I cannot guarantee that performing this fix will solve all problems with your  Cerwin Vega VE-28S Subwoofer, but it did work for mine.  You also need to  have the right tools for basic soldering/de-soldering of components and the  ability to perform the task.  The way I looked at it: My speaker was out of  warranty... it was either try this, and spend a few dollars, or buy a replacement  amplifier, and spend a lot more. (Dayton makes one I was looking at.)

If you are concerned about whether or not you can perform this task, Don't  risk it! Take your amplifier to a qualified professional, and have them fix  it.  I am not responsible for anything that happens to your amplifier as  part of this process, I am just providing the opportunity for you to buy parts.

I am not an electronics expert, so I probably can't answer too many questions  about this, but I will try to help if I can.
