A very scarce set, rarely found complete and with bindings intact, as these are very heavy volumes, and the printing materials were of questionable quality. This set contains the Book-Plates of the Home Library of former US Senator from Pennsylvania John I. Mitchell in each volume.

CONDITION (PLEASE READ): In Very Good to Very Good+ condition with strong spines (uncommon for this set), strong hinges, and no annotations, foxing, or mold. Not Ex-Library. Outer covers show general rubbing and shelf wear; rubbing to the corners and edges, mild wear to the foot and crown V1 & 2 (see Image 1); Bottom Front Hinge of V1 has a 4 inch split (see Image 1), but the board is firmly attached and not at risk of separating. Spines show some general reading and handling wear with some repaired minor surface cracks (see Image 1 using the Magnifier tool). Spine of V3 has been Sympathetically rebacked preserving the original leather. Original Owner's Bookplate on Front Paste-down of each volume.
