This large original antique map of Ancient Palestine is by
Jean Baptiste Bourguignon D'Anville, Cartographer to the King of France.
Engraved and dated as 1765 this copy was published in D’ Anville's large
elephant folio new edition Geographie Ancienne in 1769 by Merlin, Libraire
in Paris.
Inset details include the tribes of the region and a map of Jerusalem.
Dimensions are sheet size 26¾ inches wide x 20½ inches high
(approx.)
Condition: Printed on heavy laid paper. Original wide margins
as printed and bound. Some hand colouring to highlight borders. Slight age toning
at margins. A very few spots of light foxing. A very good clean copy. Original
fold as issued and slightly off centre. Shallow nibble lower edge right corner.
Small tear lower edge centre with taped repair.
