DESCRIPTION:
Offered is this early 20th century American vintage, very heavy, substantial, solid cast brass figurative sculpture of an eagle with spread wings, perched on a sphere atop a cylindrical pedestal. The piece was either designed as a desktop paperweight or as even a doorstop, due to its formidable base and sheer heaviness. The eagle's brass surfaces haven't been stripped of their naturally aged metal patina and have a complex array of colors. The figuration is very nice, especially on the back of the form, with great attention paid to and great effort taken to represent the feathered plumage of the eagle, with its naturalistically extended, cocked and spread wings. The piece is undamaged except for perhaps the very beak of the eagle, which may have at a previous point in time, suffered a tumble, somewhat softening and muting the very point of its beak. There's also some faint verdigris patina found going across the lower back of the form. It doesn't suffer from any surface abrasions, dents or dings. Handsome.

CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
