Comfy Hand Splint for Wrist and Finger Support

Wearing a wrist and hand immobilizer is not the most appealing prospect, but Bort’s soft resting hand splint makes doing so more comfortable. This hand/wrist splint immobilizes the wrist, leaves the thumb free and holds the fingers in a gently flexed position. The splint can be adjusted to each user.

This makes it a great hand brace for tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, traumatic injury or degenerative conditions such as arthritis. The immobilizing wrist and finger brace can also help leading up to or after surgery to the wrist or hand.

This prevents the fingers from curling at night or engaging in gripping motions that might cause more damage in the wrist vicinity, making this a great product for carpal tunnel or hand tendonitis treatment. The hand/finger splint can be worn during the day and/or night.

The hand and finger brace consists of an aluminum splint that is encased in a soft, breathable mesh material for user comfort. The hand-based splint is quite lightweight.

The hand and finger splint has four contact-closure straps for a customized fit. These straps along with an integrated slip-on aid make it easy to apply or remove the hand and finger braces, even with one’s gripping ability restricted.

The soft, relatively open design of this hand and wrist splint makes it more comfortable than a cast, while achieving the same effect. Plus a soft cast for the hand can be removed for bathing or rehabilitation exercises, if a doctor permits.

One can purchase either a left or right hand splint in numerous sizes that fit a variety of wrist circumferences.

Hand Brace for Tendonitis Treatment

Movements of the hand and fingers are not isolated occurrences. They involve a complex interplay of many tendons, muscles, nerves, etc. extending through the wrist and up the arm. For that reason, treatment of some wrist conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) or tenosynovitis might involve immobilizing the wrist, hand and fingers.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a hand/arm condition that stems from a nerve being pinched in the wrist. This can cause numbness and tingling in the fingers of one’s hand, especially those on the thumb side.

Treatment of CTS typically begins with taking breaks from repetitive activities to rest one’s hands and avoiding irritating activities. Wearing a wrist brace with finger support is another common mode of treatment, especially at night. Holding the wrist in neutral position prevents movements of the hand and fingers that might be irritating to the median nerve.

Cold Therapy can help reduce swelling. Some also have success with yoga or hand therapy for relieving the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.

If non-surgical methods fail to bring relief and one’s discomfort is severe, surgery to relieve pressure on one’s median nerve may be considered. This hand and finger support can help leading up to and in the aftermath of any such procedure.

Two other conditions for which these hand and finger splints are especially popular is tenosynovitis and tendonitis of the wrist. These conditions often coincide.

While tendonitis refers to painful inflammation of one’s tendon, tenosynovitis refers to inflammation of the lining of the tendon sheath. Both cause pain, especially with movement of the joint. DeQuervain's syndrome refers to a one form of wrist tendonitis. We sell a number of brace for DeQuervain's syndrome Treatment specifically.

As both wrist tendonitis and wrist tenosynovitis are caused by recurrent irritation of the tendon within its sheath, rest is a key element of treatment. Often, this includes use of a tenosynovitis brace like this that forces one to rest the wrist, allowing inflammation to subside.

As is the case with carpal tunnel syndrome, the application of ice can also help draw down swelling that is to blame for much of one’s discomfort.
