DESCRIPTION:
For sale is this wonderful, charcoal black ink stamped wood box, bottled water advertising shipping crate, most likely produced at the turn of the 20th century, from about 1915 to 1930. It features all wood construction and tin metal corner reinforcing stacking strips, nailed to the box's edges. The short sidewalls have cut-out, built-in lifting/carrying handles. The wood box crate represents New England early mercantile advertising from western Massachusetts and the Connecticut River Valley. This box was produced for the Cascella Spring Bottling Works of Three Rivers, Massachusetts and would have held up to a dozen glass bottles of spring water, bottled at the bottling plant located in this small town, east of Springfield, Massachusetts. All four sides of the wood box crate are ink stamped and feature western style typography. The ink is still largely clear, crisp and highly readable. The wood surfaces are dry and matte and haven't been lacquered or varnished. The ink hasn't been enhanced or re-inked. A scarce, very desirable antique box. Nice.

CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
