Writer. Councillor of State. In 1804-1840 he lived in St. Petersburg, since 1840 - in Warsaw. Play chess at age 7. In 1809, won the match with one of the best of St. Petersburg. A spear players. For half a century was the strongest chess player in Russia. Won in the matches K. Janisch in 1840. (with handicap), S. Urusov - 3: 1 (1853) and 13 7 (1859), J. noise - 4: 2 (1862). В течение полувека был сильнейшим шахматистом России. Побеждал в матчах К. Яниша в 1840-х гг. (с форой), С. Урусова - 3 : 1 (1853) и 13 : 7 (1859), И. Шумова - 4 : 2 (1862).
