Notes: Radio and Television Retailing: Bound Magazines. Six issues: January 1950 - June 1950. Important trade publication for television, radio, appliances and more at the dawn of the golden age of television. With sales exploding at mid-century, technical advances and innovations came hot and heavy, and Radio and Television Retailing chronicled them, reviewed new products in every issue, published technical and marketing articles, industry data and forecasts, advertiser lists, extensive retail locations directories and more. Includes thousands of illustrated ads representing a virtual who's who of mid-century manufacturers of televisions, AM, FM, car and battery operated portable radios, record players, consoles, parts (some obscure, e.g., television screen magnifiers), servicing tools and equipment, antennas, television and radio stars, solid mahogany cabinetry (in its heyday) and more. Notably, televisions, FM broadcasting, portable radios and 45 rpm records were in their infancy. A valuable resource for collectors with many once active manufacturers now gone. Illustrative content alone is huge. All magazine covers included. Most issues number well over 100 pages. All issues tight and generally unmarked with inconspicuous library stamps to front covers. Odor free. Outer binding with minimal shelf wear and light, scattered spotting to spine panel. An important mid-century collectible. Photographs of or additional information about this item are available on request. All inquiries answered promptly.
