DESCRIPTION:
For sale is this incredibly clean and nearly unscathed, early-mid 19th century French antique Napoleonic black and red transfer figurative porcelain ceramic collector's plate, featuring a standing Emperor Napoleon in hat and full uniform, reviewing his assembled troops in the field, during a military campaign abroad. The outside margins of this pristine, nearly immaculate decorated porcelain plate, have a slightly scalloped perimeter. The raised outer interior sill, surrounding the recessed basin of the decorative dish, features ornate, reticulated brick red color, with Napoleon's monogram stamp appearing in three stations in the form of an encircled, high case 'N' on a decorative medallion. The French imperial eagle with flags and crossed staffs, appear in four stations, abutting the Napoleon monogramed graphic iconography. The interior basin of the dish features figurative graphic iconography, chronicling the imperial, military forays into other lands, in the name of French colonial conquest and military hegemony. Clean. A gorgeous French antique historical transfer plate. Very fine.
