"Coro-Coro", The World of the Scarlet Ibis, by Paul A. Zahl.  Copyright 1954 by the author.  Published by The Bobbs-Merrill Company Inc., Indianapolis Indiana.  Stated First Edition.  NOT Ex-Library.  No ISBN - there were none in those years.  Note - the photos you see are of this volume - no 'Stock Photos' - we never use them.

A tight firm clean book in Very Good condition but without a dust jacket.  Blue-green/gilt-lettered hard boards, 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 264 clean pages of remarkable autobiographical data on trips to the northeastern shore of South America, where the Scarlet Ibis (Coro-Coro in a local dialect) is most common.  A protected bird throughout the world, very closely related to it's white-plumed cousin the American Ibis, a beautiful bird.

Paul A. Zahl (1910-1985) was an explorer and biologist with a particular interest in the scarlet ibis.  Here is his report on expeditions traveled in and time spent with the indigenous peoples of Venezuela, the Guineas and Brazil.   Very well illustrated.

The interiors of the book are clean, tight, firm.  The boards show a bit of compression - not wear.  A brief giftatory, ffep.  There is no dust jacket, alas.  A splendid autobiographical description of those explorations.

No wear, No looseness, No mustiness, No smoke smell.   No names, just that one giftatory, No bookplates, NOT Ex-Library, NOT Remainder-marked.
