Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

This is a 1950's era Electro Voice 611 dynamic microphone. This microphone was a rugged, affordable "general purpose" microphone sold as an alternative to the more expensive and sophisticated dynamic cardioid mics being offered for sale in the industry at that time.

Electro Voice sold the 911 crystal and the dynamic 611 model as seen in pic # 2 from an old E.V advertisement. Both mics were an all metal structure with polished chrome finish and were identical except for the type of element these two models used. The 611 was slightly more expensive. This mic was no longer working so it made a great candidate for the lamp mod.

Pic # 3 shows this very model mic in the Marvelous Ms. Maisel series that I sold too a few years back.

I should start by letting you know that this mic lamp is made by a gentleman in Canada named Gord D Birtch who is a Jack of all Trades. An artist and all around good guy with an eye for these older mics. I have several of his lamps at my residence and have been collecting them for almost a year. I send him the microphones and he turns them into this finished product.

All of the mics are gutted, cleaned and professionally wired with high quality, efficient American L.E.D lights. Gord will often install metal mesh screen in his mics. Some do not have them but it really comes down to how the mic is designed and how we want the light to be thrown. This mic does have a front screen.

This 611 has the original mesh screen but still casts a nice ambiance once activated as you can see in the pictures provided. This will make an excellent accent piece anywhere in the home, studio or office and this mic lamp will screw onto any microphone desk or floor stand. I do have several vintage stands available in my Ebay store however.

I'm just trying to get Gord's name and recognition out there. His work is top notch. Again, I have several of his pieces in my residence and everybody who comes over absolutely loves them.

The polished chrome body on this 611 shows typical lite wear as seen in the pictures provided with scratches and pitting. There are zero dent or fractures however. The 611 has plenty of tension on the pivoting lower pistol grip so you can get just the right angle needed. The LED is not as strong as some of the other lamp lights I have for sale. This model actually makes a better night light than anything else.

You can always screw a short or long Atlas gooseneck into the bottom of the lamp for flexibility if needed.

A cable connector is attached to the bottom of mic as it would be naturally completing the effect of the lamp.

The cable itself is cloth covered and has an older vintage feel to it. It's appx 9 feet in length and has an on / off switch. Simply plug this in and your good to go. I believe these LED's are rated at 50,000 hours.

This in actual 611 mic. Not a replica. I can't talk these lamps up enough. More like sculptures and I was told Gord is going to be numbering these like paintings to indicate his particular work. He'll be making several more of these lamps in many makes and models so this is going to be more than just a lamp but an investment. Regardless, one of the coolest lamps you could own and perfect for that mid century vibe and an excellent gift for just about anybody.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
