Auction House Find!  Rare item in overall good condition considering age. This is a rare Clysmic Mineral Water Tin Lithographed Advertising Tip Tray featuring a beautiful, bare breasted woman. This outstanding oval change tray measures 4 3/8" by 6" and features an image of a beautiful, young woman seated at the edge of a mountain spring with her feet in the water. She holds a very large bottle of Clysmic "Table Water" and beside her an elk drinks from the crystal clear spring.

Text on the raised rim at the top and bottom of the Tray reads simply "Clysmic" and text on the rim on each side of the Tray reads "King of Table Waters". The Tray carries the mark of the manufacturer - American Art Works Co. - at the bottom of the image area.

The Clysmic Mineral Spring in Waukesha, Wisconsin was first used for commercial purposes in 1878. There were a succession of different owners, but in 1906 the company using the spring as a source of water was officially named the "Clysmic Spring Company". A major revision to the bottle labels and the Company's advertising commenced in May, 1907. A new slogan - "King of Table Waters" - was adopted. A new trademark was also designed at the time, called "The Lady and the Elk". Serving trays, tip trays, and large advertising signs were issued showing the beautiful young woman and elk.

I believe this to be original, but am not 100% sure as I am not the original owner and do not have its backstory. Please look closely at pics and ask questions if needed.
