Terry Jackson is an Indigenous wood-carver and artist who has practiced since the early 1970’s. Terry is fully versed in the visual language of the Northwest Coast art style. In the early 1970’s, Terry apprenticed with Tony Hunt at his studio in Victoria, BC. Terry’s major body of work has been crafted primarily in the medium of wood. His repertoire includes masks, bowls, panels, totem poles, prints, and paintings. In 1994, he began exploring and experimenting with the challenging medium of porcelain. This technique requires blending technical and artistic skills to produce his line of elegant bisque porcelain vases and bowls. The porcelain vases and bowls are signed.

Made from slip-cast porcelain, this vase by Métis artist Terry Jackson is titled "Raven and Coyote's World" and represents depictions of two figures central to creation stories both on the Northwest Coast and throughout Canada.

A beautiful work of art in its own right it can also be used to hold flowers to create the perfect wedding and celebration display. It measures 7 ¾” x 7” x 4 ½”.

The artist writes of this vessel: "This piece of translucent porcelain represents the little boxes we try to keep our desires and passions and sometime deceitful ways in.It is folly to think that one area of our life does not affect the rest.Raven and Coyote are tricksters who sometimes by their cleverness get into their own created messes."
