WHY THIS OLD SCHOOL MODEL? WHY DO I SELL JUST THIS MODEL IN BLACK AWRC-1G OR WHITE AWRC-1P? WHY AM I ASKING FOR THIS AMOUNT? PLEASE READ MY ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, AS IT SHOULD EXPLAIN EVERYTHING AND ENLIGHTEN YOU ABOUT BOSE WAVE RADIOS.
First and foremost, it is made in the good old USA! That used to mean something and it still means the world to me! The parts in the radio that are not made in the USA are made in Japan, so that is a collaboration of the two greatest electronic powers when it comes to manufacturing electronics. Oh! how I would love to go back to the days of the USA manufacturing electronics and electronic components again when Silicon Valley meant manufacturing and not outsourcing, but that is a different story.
This unit is elegant and simplistic it can be fully controlled without a remote control, as all of the controls are on the CD lid. Compare that to the new inferior models that are made in Mexico and must use a remote as they do not have any controls on the radio. What engineer genius thought of that? New current models have a mechanical rudimentary apparatus that pulls the CD in with a mix of plastic gears and a low-voltage motor, tin, and springs. They are prone to CD jams and malfunction error readings on the display, not my old-school workhorses AWRC-1P and AWRC-1G open the lid place the CD, and you're good to go. However, please understand the laser assembly in these old-school units (specifically the laser diode) is one of the most significant parts in the entire radio and near impossible to come by, in fact, I would say "impossible" as they are no longer manufactured, so unless the seller still has a surplus of new laser assemblies as I do from rebuilding/remanufacturing these radios from back in the days than it is just futile. I have been rebuilding these radios for about 20 years now. The laser diode is basically the engine of the CD player, as more miles are placed on an automotive engine, the engine will weaken due to wear on the piston rings, cam bearings, crank bearings, valve seals, and so on, causing blow by and extensive oil burning in the combustion chamber of the engine. The laser diode is the same, the more a CD is listened to the more wear and deterioration is done to the diode. It is inevitable putting miles on a car will wear the engine among other parts, and listening to your CD player will wear the laser diode. At new, the Bose laser diode should last between 20 to 25 years. Of course that is dependent on the hours played listening to the CD player, so buying a Wave from someone else could just be like gambling or buying a car with a broken odometer. If you have a Porsche, a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, or a Rolls Royce you don't go to the local mechanic that works on everything. That's not to say that they might not be able to fix your issue, no you would want to go to a person who specializes in that particular brand. In this case, check and see my other listings. I specialize only in Bose products, That is what I do.

Awesome communication! Answered any questions I had and highly impressed. I can tell a great deal of work went into this unit and is pretty rare to see this level of attention to detail. As for the item itself; I'm actually more impressed in person and I wasn't aware the Bose had other features most overlook or forget (like auto dimming). This an audiophile grade product. Works perfectly and looks brand-spanking-new! We used to have one just like this, but it got lost when we moved a couple of years ago. Because its old-school design made it simple to operate, my son, who is developmentally disabled, was able to operate it independently and just loved it and had really missed it. I bought this for him as a graduation gift that he can take with him when he moves away from home, and I hope he can continue to enjoy it for many years to come.

This vintage Bose Wave Radio and CD arrived in perfect condition. All cleaned up and running like a top. Just like it was brand new. The seller is a perfectionist who pays great attention to details and communicates very well. When my old Bose stopped working, I thought it would be impossible to replace it. Boy was I wrong!
