Sôichi Negishi is a young boy who loves delicate atmospheres and Swedish pop... However, the height of the paradox, he is the unleashed singer-guitarist of DMC (Detroit Metal City), a Death Metal group. Made unrecognizable by an outrageous and provocative make-up in the manner of the group Kiss, supported by the two other members of his group, he scoured the Tokyo independent music scene, vociferating demonic imprecations against a background of noisy electric guitars. The young girl he is secretly in love with, and tries to win over, hates Death Metal. Sôichi, torn between his natural delicacy and his role as the "emperor of darkness" of music will have to manage his double life as skilfully as possible to have a chance of seducing the chosen one of his heart. But life is complicated and the equivocal situations that will follow will make his chances of success very unlikely...
After nine volumes of pure greasy delirium, here comes the last volume of this excellent series which has brought so much freshness (but without levity) to the mangas that we were used to reading!
The newcomer to the Metal scene, God, the hidden son of legend Carls Murder, has eradicated all the competition by undermining the shows of the various groups, and even DMC has paid the price! Soichi has disappeared, the boss is in a coma, nothing is going right!
We find this poor Soichi in France where the author initially depicts an idealized Paris, where everything is wonderful, where the people are adorable…pure science fiction! And very quickly Soichi realizes that the dream he thought he was living turns into a kind of nightmare where everyone completely ignores him, even worse than when he received eggs in the face.
For their part, the other members of DMC, as well as their fans are at the bottom of the abyss, there is no longer any hope, Krauser has indeed disappeared...
These few chapters that open the volume are quite pleasant, and almost seem to announce a very sad ending for the group, but the best is yet to come and God's final affront will awaken the worst impulses of Soichi who lets himself be totally absorbed by the Krauser's character.
The final is played with great fanfare in front of an audience absorbed by the ultimate duel that will be played. And the reader also lets himself be bluffed. As much as we find the great delusions that marked the series and of which the author is fond, as much at times he would almost make us vibrate with strong moments where Krauser crushes everything with his charisma. You could almost feel the effervescence, the madness that seizes the public...and all those who have already experienced it (the madness of a Metal concert where the mass of individuals is transformed into a single entity devoted to the group) will meet there!
It was necessary to conclude in beauty, and the author comes out of it marvelously with an ultimate adversary of size, who cornered, will be transformed on multiple occasions… we can clearly see on the reference to all these shonens of fights, Dragon Ball the first, where the protagonists transform to increase their power. And what about the last "transformation" of God? Truly hilarious!
Even the right to own the famous and legendary guitar that belonged to Jack Ill Dark and Carls Murder before him is at stake here!
After this madness, after Soichi has finally decided to accept this character who, despite what he may think, brings him so many things, the author offers us a last chapter concerning the relationship between Soichi and Yuri...we had to unravel everything. that too. Well here again the author takes us on the wrong foot and offers us an ultimate outrage, an ultimate delirium that allows us to say goodbye to this great series so original with a last smile (and perhaps with a little sadness too) .
An excellent last volume for a series that will mark the genre!
