The firm, meaty flesh of this Roma heirloom tomato is great for cooking purposes. Compact vining growth habit. This easy to grow variety bears heavily until frost. Open pollinated.

Sowing

Heirloom tomatoes are easy to grow from seed. Use moist, sterile potting mix, and press the seeds lightly into the soil. Germination takes place in about a week if temperatures are between 70 and 75 degrees F.

 Planting

Since temperature below 55 degrees F can damage production, protect the plants if temperature drops. A thick layer of mulch helps conserve moisture and control weeds, water the plants once a week, but avoid getting the leaves wet. Determinator, or bush type tomatoes, do not require staking.

 Harvesting

70-80 days to reach maturity. Test the ripeness of tomatoes by pressing them gently, the flesh should yield slightly. The mature color also indicates ripeness. If the stem does not come easily off the vine, cut it with scissors. Vine ripened tomatoes have the best flavor, but as soon as frost comes, all tomatoes should be harvested, even the green ones.
