Original WW1 (1917) "RESTRICTED" Imperial German AERIAL RECONNAISSANCE PHOTO

This rare aerial photograph is one of a small collection I'm listing which relates to an area heavily affected by The Battle of Verdun. Whilst the main battle had concluded some months earlier, there were still periods of heavy fighting with many of the villages being completely wiped off the map.

This image features an area of interest labelled 'stützpunkt' (meaning 'base' or 'stronghold') somewhere along the road from Esnes-en-Argonne to Haucourt. The village of Haucourt was totally destroyed and never rebuilt. North is marked by the white arrow in the top left corner.

The rear has been officially stamped with "Nur für den Dienstgebrauch bei Stellungswechsel zu übergeben" which roughly translates as "RESTRICTED - TO BE HANDED OVER WHEN TRANSFERRING POSITION"

Measures approximately 18cm x 13cm.

PLEASE NOTE - Following BREXIT, some items exported from the UK to EU countries may now incur import tariffs on arrival. This depends on the overall value of the item (or items) contained within the package. UK sellers are now required to display these details in the form of a Customs Declaration attached to the outside of the package. Such matters are beyond my control as the process is administered by the Customs Department of the destination country. With this in mind, please can all buyers from EU countries make themselves aware of how these changes may affect them when purchasing items from the UK. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
