'The coin used at the coin toss of the first 3 mobile Ashes Series test in Brisbane, donated by the Royal Australian Mint, sold at auction for $5080, with proceeds going to Cricket Australia's official community partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The winner of the auction is a Doctor from regional Queensland who regularly uses the services of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

"We are thrilled with the result, and hope that the excitement of the Adelaide test match amongst the public will generate as much interest in the auction of the coin as in Brisbane. The auction is a great opportunity for Cricket fans to own a historic piece of Ashes memorabilia. We appreciate the hard work that Cricket Australia, the Royal Australian Mint and Legends have put into this project", said Gerri Christie, Executive Director, Royal Flying Doctor Service (Victorian Section).

The coins will individually be auctioned by Legends Genuine Memorabilia, with each auction closing the day after the 5th day of each match. Fans can visit www.lgm.com.au to make an online bid for the actual coin used in each toss.

Each of the 1882-2007 Ashes silver proof coins to be auctioned are framed with a photo of the Captains at the coin toss, and a signed certificate of authenticity. Also presented with the coin is its display case made of kookaburra-like red leather with printed stitching representative of the well known 6 stitch cricket ball used in the 3 mobile Ashes Test series.

The Royal Australian Mint has produced a coin range commemorating this summer's 3 mobile Ashes Series that includes a gold and silver proof coin, and an uncirculated coin. These coins feature the famous Ashes urn flanked by the Australian kangaroo and English lion, two iconic symbols of both countries.'
