I own a specialty advertising company, now in our 45th year - and I was in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm.   We are now in the semi-retirement stages and I am offering our somewhat unusual advertising pieces collected over the years. Among our better clients was Electrolux, the makers of those fine vacuum cleaners.   In 1982 Electrolux introduced the Silverado model.   My customer and friend, Dewey W. was Southeast Sales manager.   Dewey wanted a special award for the salesman (and yes, at that time all of the sales force were men) who sold the most Silverado's in a given period.   At the time, I represented an old-line domestic manufacturer of fine pewter called Dura Cast - now long out of business.   For a fee, Dura Cast was able to create small quantities of custom cast pieces.   I had them create this handsome mug in genuine pewter.   It features the newest Electrolux model, the Silverado.    Knowing this was going to be a somewhat unique piece, I had my supplier make two. And here is a bit of information about this unusual Electrolux memorabilia: As described in the accompanying romance card, it was literally hand crafted from an alloy of eight different metals.   Because it was made in a sand mold of own and poured by hand from molten metal!   No two are exactly alike, so this is literally a one-of-a-kind example! Dura Cast is tarnish free.   Due to the material, it will keep beverages much colder than ceramic, especially if allowed to chill in the refrigerator. It is 16 ounces, full four finger handle, and weighs well over one pound!   U.S.A. hand crafted. So although now over 40 years old, it is in as new condition.    Never used or displayed, and kept in a sealed container in one of our climate controlled sample rooms. It would be very interesting to discover whatever happened to the only other such pewter mug. A most rare find for sure!   One final Electrolux note:   They had an unofficial slogan..."Nothing Sucks Like An Electrolux!" What an excellent addition for anyone who worked or works for Electrolux, or perhaps collects such unusual memorabilia.  It is from a smoke-free, pet-free, climate controlled environment.
