Imperial German, Great War, Rare Wurttemberg Reserve Uhlan Officer’s Crusher ( Schirrmmutze )Visor Cap from a Uhlan Regiment.The Cap is Dark Blue ( Dunkelblau )with a wide Red Band and with Reich and State Kokarden also present. There is a White trim band on the top of the cap. This is a very high quality Cap that has seen a lot of service. It is near impossible to find a Visor Cap without some moth tracking, this cap has none. There is a maker’s mark on the caps inner liner and the only flaw is that the visor is slightly bent. Uhlans were Tatar-modeled light Cavalry Troops. Cavalry units were Hussars, Uhlans, Dragoon’s and Cuirassiers. The only Cavalry Division in the peacetime was the Guards Cavalry Division. The Lieb Hussars had only one Brigade. By 1916 Cavalry units were converted to infantry units.
