These journals would make a fine Book-of-Shadows for Pagan/Wicca practitioners. The cover is made of a tough buffalo hide coloured with a natural Mahogany Brown dye that is derived from tree bark, and bears a hand-embossed Celtic Tree of Life.

 

The ancient Celts believed that all living things were mystical, spiritual beings. Trees, in particular, rooted themselves deep in the Earth but with their branches reached up to Heaven, and were therefore revered as a source of wisdom.

 

The book contains pages of 150gsm plain unlined cartridge art paper.

Quality: - Paper is 150gsm unlined cartridge paper. It is suitable for drawing and sketching, and for writing with pencil, Biro, gel and fountain pens, and with water-based inks or water colour.

 

Binding: is 100% genuine water-buffalo hide, coloured with a natural dye. The leather is of a heavy quality, and is thick but supple.The binding will NOT crack, tear, or disintegrate (as glued bindings do!). The book will lie flat and remain open at any page you select.

 

Fastening: is a durable leather tie-strap.

 

I designed these journals because I could not find the kind of journal I wanted to use - which needs to be beautiful, practical, and durable.

All my journals are entirely handmade, and each piece is unique.

I love working with leather, but for ethical reasons I only use vintage leather for my books- ie leather from working animals that have come to the natural end of their lives.
