John Bartholomew (1831–1893) was a Scottish cartographer. Bartholomew built up a reputation unsurpassed in Great Britain for the production of the finest cartographical work. He is best known for the development of colour contouring (or hypsometrictints), the system of representing altitudes on a graduated colour scale.

Antique prints, maps, engravings, lithographs, etchings, adverts, are all fragments of history, many remaining in excellent condition after 100 or more years. These are genuine Antique or Vintage items which we individually scan and describe.

Scans–Engravings are formed of fine lines and may show a colour cast or wavy lines on black and white images and possible rainbow casts on colour. The watermark is, of course, not on the original.

Package and Shipping - Your item will be securely packed in a rigid board mailer, between toughened cardboard or in a rigid postal tube, depending on size. We have shipped antique maps and prints worldwide for many years.
