This is a vintage handmade Afghan tribal and geometric accent rug or small runner. This rug is fine quality, hand-knotted with soft lambs wool that gives it a soft sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations.  The overall pattern is a repeating geometric motif known as a "gul", which often represents natural elements like lakes or mountains.  The pattern is hand-knotted in midnight blue and eggplant purple on a cherry red backdrop with tiny pops of orange, chocolate and white. The overall effect is of a garden full of tribal flowers. The colors are occasionally muted in slightly lighter shades, a phenomenon known as abrash which occurs only in handmade vintage rugs using natural dyes. The rug has an antique patina to it. The border is a complementary series of small geometric motifs in the same colors, tiny repeating triangles and zigzag lines.  The colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  This rug is lightly distressed, with a few areas of the fringe that are imperfect (see last photos for close-ups). This light distress makes this beautiful rug at a great bargain price!  Size: 3'11"x6'9"-- please also visit our eBay shop, HafezRugGallery313, for more quality handmade rugs at great value.  We're always adding new inventory and always willing to work with you on price.
