Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very unique and somewhat rare Amperite PGAH dynamic microphone made in New York City during the 1940's and made into a custom LED lamp. The PGAH mic was an entry level dynamic mic offered by Amperite at that time. It has a very industrial steampunk look that's all it's own.

Pic # 2 shows this very model in an old 1940's catalog. I should start by letting you know that this mic lamp is made by a gentleman in Canada named Gord D Birtch who is a Jack of all Trades. An artist and all around good guy with an eye for these older mics. He has an online store called Luminous Groove. I have several of his mic lamps at my residence and have been collecting them for about 2 years now. I send him the microphones and he turns them into this finished product.

I'm really just trying to get his name and recognition out there. His work is top notch. Again, I have several of his pieces in my residence and everybody who comes over absolutely loves them.

All the mics are cleaned, gutted and professionally wired with high quality, efficient American L.E.D lights. Gord will often install metal mesh screen in his mics. Some do not have them but it really comes down to how the mic is designed and how we want the light to be thrown. This mic already has mesh screens so nothing was needed.

This Amperite casts an amazing ambiance once activated as you can see in the pictures provided. It throws a lot of light and has a warm glow. If you want to light up the ceiling or corner in your house this will do nicely. It will accentuate any painting or sculpture you have as well. This will make an excellent accent piece anywhere in the home, studio or office and this mic lamp will screw onto any microphone desk or floor stand. I do have several vintage stands available in my Ebay store however.

As you can see in the pictures provided this unique microphone has typical lite cosmetic wear and overall in very good condition. It's has just fine pitting and a few scuff marks. No dents or fractures however. A very nice luster on the polished chrome finish. The front screen is free of dents or tarnish as well.

The Amperite badge looks very nice as well and the switch operates as it should. The joint mechanism has plenty of tension as well and you can get the right angle needed on the mic head.

The threading for the cable and stand are perfect. A cable connector is attached to the mic as it would be naturally completing the effect of the mic.

The cable itself is a high quality cloth covered item and has an older vintage feel to it. It's appx 9 feet in length and has an on / off switch as you can see in pic # 1. Simply plug this in to your light socket and your good to go. I believe these LED's are rated at 50,000 hours. This PGAH has a strong LED which is quite strong and would make a good light for reading a book by. It will light up a small room and is too strong for a night light.

This is an actual Amperite PGAH mic. Not a replica. One of the coolest lamps you could own and perfect for that mid century vibe and an excellent gift for just about anybody.

The mic will screw on to any American desk or floor stand. I would rate the cosmetic condition of this Amperite a true 7 on  a scale of 1 - 10.

As with all my vintage items...
