Fabric is smooth like a tee shirt on the outside with a looped pile on the inside.  Hanna Andersson called it "sweatie fabric" in the early days of the company, if I recall correctly.  Now I believe that it is called French Terry.  By whatever name it's called, it's thicker and warmer than most HA play dresses.  

Dress shows moderate to significant wash wear, including a bit of fading.  Both sleeves have areas of moderate discoloration.  I hesitate to call them stains, because they are actually a shade lighter and with a warmer tone than the surrounding fabric.  I don't know whether the previous owner rested her arms on a surface that was still damp with a cleaning product, or if the sleeves were treated with a strong stain remover that reacted badly with the dye of the fabric.  No other flaws or defects noted.
